Job Description:

The Infrastructure Operations Team manages critical infrastructure across the firm by identifying incidents, taking immediate action and working closely with engineers to resolve them. They are an adaptive, innovative and resilient team of system engineers providing 24/7/365 monitoring. Infrastructure Operations provides 1st and 2nd level support for the entire firm's infrastructure; globally. This positions first priority will be charged with Incident Response to include troubleshooting and monitoring the company's enterprise systems environment as well as developing tools used to monitor the environment. Infrastructure Operations provides visibility and transparency to Global Infrastructure management and the user community. This role will be based in Chicago and will be for the following shifts:

7AM – 7PM – Friday through Sunday

7PM – 7AM – Monday through Thursday

7PM – 7AM – Friday through Sunday

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • First priority of the Infrastructure Operations Center for all IT infrastructure Engineering teams is Incident Response and incident triaging.
  • Provide infrastructure IT support for all IT Engineering teams by quickly identifying, isolating, and resolving incidents. IT Engineering support includes:
  • Network Infrastructure troubleshooting, high level configuration and Hardware support
  • Systems and Servers: Linux/Windows OS troubleshooting, high level configuration and Hardware support
  • File System Storage troubleshooting, high level configuration and Hardware support
  • Database Server troubleshooting and escalation
  • Colocation, Datacenter and office logistical support to include escort, access arrangements and on site hardware troubleshooting and support

 

  • Troubleshooting issues as they arise as well as escalation to 2nd and 3rd level support personnel as needed
  • Proactively identify repetitive problems and work with engineering to resolve them and prevent re-occurrence
  • Coordinate communications for engineering teams and the firm’s broader technical community during outages and major changes
  • Continuously engage with vendors to identify product defects and enhancements

Skillset Requirements:

    • Strong understanding of Linux, RHCSA level with hands on knowledge and experience navigating the CLI
    • Strong networking background, with Cisco IOS and Cisco Nexus knowledge and experience navigating the CLI
    • Advanced Python scripting ability
    • Ability to understand/develop object oriented scripting to assist in task automation
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills
    • 65-75 WPM Key stroke average
